OUR MISSION
Save the Darkness
Save Darkness Organization is dedicated to fighting light pollution and preserving the natural night.
We work to protect the stars above, the nocturnal wildlife, and human health—all affected by excessive artificial lighting. Light pollution disrupts ecosystems, alters natural behaviors, and dims our view of the universe.
What We Promote:
-
Fully shielded, low-intensity, warm-colored lights
-
Timers, motion sensors, and dimmers
-
Precision lighting with smart, reflective materials
Our vision is a world where light is used responsibly—not wastefully—so that nature, humans, and the night sky can all thrive.
Our Story
It all started with a simple question:
"Why can’t we see the stars anymore?"
What was once a magical part of every night — a sky full of stars — has slowly disappeared behind layers of artificial light. Streets, buildings, hoardings — everything is lit up, even when it doesn’t need to be. And in all this brightness, we forgot how beautiful darkness can be.
We noticed it wasn’t just about the stars.
Birds were losing their way. Owls were flying less. Turtles weren’t reaching the sea. Even people were sleeping less, feeling tired, and disconnected from nature.
That’s when we decided — enough is enough.
This thought struck our founder, Mr. Harsha Joshi, deeply when he returned from abroad during the G20 event.
He saw countless LED lights wrapped around trees, buildings glowing non-stop, and the night sky completely missing its stars.
What used to be calm and starry was now harsh and artificial. That was the moment he decided to take a stand.
Save Darkness Organization was born out of this realization — to speak up against unnecessary lighting, and to bring awareness to how light pollution is silently harming our environment, wildlife, and even our sleep.
We believe darkness is not the enemy. It’s a part of nature — and it deserves to be saved.
